Python is an interpreted, object-oriented, and powerful programming language. It is easy to learn and very elegant to use. Within FreeGee Python's role is focused on the execution of small programs (10-5000 lines of code). Many features that are needed for bigger software projects, like consistence-checking, strict interface definitions, exchangeable datatypes and so on are avoided to provide highly expressive and elegant programming statements.

Python can be used for RAD (rapid application development), system administration, glueing software modules, implementing web services, and processing of files and texts. There are interfaces to many system calls and libraries. In addition, new modules are easily written in C or C++. Python is also usable as an extension language for applications that need a programmable interface.
